Lessons Rad has learned traveling through Colombia (Medellin, Guatape, Salento, Cali) & Peru (Cusco, Agua Calientes, Puno, Lake Titicaca) 

  • Tomatoes are much tastier in Colombia

  • All the stores in Centro Commercial’s (“Malls”) are the same and it freaks me out a bit. Ex.) Medellin has a Centro Commercial in El Poblado for electronics and it’s 200 stores that all sell the exact same thing – phones, cases, cameras, and headphones)
  • When ordering jugos naturales ask for “sin azucar”, I’ve seen them easily add 4 tablespoons of sugar to fruit juice. TABLE- Spoons!
  • If you forget to take your debit card at new ATMs they will keep the card so you can go back and retrieve it from the bank. Ask me how I know that..
  • Buy Imodium or Depends for Peru, depending on your preference, if you plan to eat a lot of Ceviche
  • Crossing the border in Bolivia is a bitch, $160 USD cash Is needed, these guys money laundering??
  • Blade Runner 2049 is a perfect movie, not travel related just a fact you should know
  • Americans abroad annoy the hell out of me, I actively avoid them at hostels

  • In Medellin people wear plastic gloves to eat Buffalo Wings because they are soft
  • It’s always okay to laugh when someone says Lake Titicaca
  • Yes you feel like a millionaire spending monopoly money at first, but when you go to a very touristy area and spend 10 SOL on a Gatorade you’re pissed!

  • Continue to think Medellin is very dangerous so that it keeps prices low for the next 5-10 years. And disregard it’s Nomad Lists #4 city in the world to work remotely from. It’s cool to have lived in a city for a month that’s on the precipice of blowing up in the next 5 years
  • If you don’t have a mindfulness practice get one, it’s honestly the easiest and best way to improve your life today
  • Don’t pet wild dogs, lest they show you their teeth
  • Pet wild cats cause cats rule
  • Modafanil & Viagra are available over the counter in Colombia, again depending on your preference
  • Skittles avg price here is ~$4USD, I seriously have paid more for Skittles than Bandejo Paisa for dinner!
  • Cover your drink in the clurb
  • Leave your iPhone at home if you hittin’ the town for the night
    • Actually have your phone get stolen to teach you a valuable lesson and to improve your street smarts. Also, you are addicted to your phone so this detox will do wonders for you
  • Don’t try to translate word for word to tell a joke in Spanish, it no trabajo
