Day 1 – Planning & Tanning

Day 1 of solo travel. A trip I have been contemplating and looking forward to for half a year has finally arrived. It’s a bit surreal to have woken up in Medellin and ventured out looking for food and leaving my phone at home. No email to check. No tweets to read. Silence.

In this silence I contemplated how do I begin structuring this growth trip for the next 4 months. There’s so much to accomplish in all aspects of my life in addition to all the countries and experiences I want to take in.

So I started big picture – listing the 3 goals I must accomplish by the end of this trip:

  1. Speak Spanish conversationally
  2. Build & Ship 4 microventures
  3. Daily Body & mindfulness practice

I’m experimenting with several ways to track the progress of these goals, with the intent to review weekly and refine as necessary. So far i’m using a ‘Best Self’ journal and ‘Win the Day’ Chrome plugin.

It will be interesting to see how these goals evolve over the next month, hopefully #3 will become part of my daily routine and will help me launch the next step of planning out my ideal days.

Luckily I found an amazing hostel/co-working space in Medellin, Selina. It’s full of remote workers in a space that looks like it was plucked straight out of Wynwood MIA. The co-working space itself strives to foster creativity, with one of a kind furniture and inspirational quotes adorning the walls.

I know what you are thinking and yes ^ that is a suspended hammock to lay on and get shit done on… or nap. I’ll be sure to test out both.

And that is a fitting quote to ponder on day one: Whatever you think, think the opposite.

P.S. – Tomatoes in Colombia are soo much better than home. Don’t ask me why just accept it.

P.P.S – I drank the water, pray for me
